The immediate surroundings of Vislust
The vacation park offers ideal conditions to do already in the immediate vicinity. The recreational possibilities are very varied: in the village of Onderdijk there is a small supermarket, a snack bar, several pubs, a mini golf course and a large adventure playground. As a park guest, you will receive a “flat-rate paid admission ticket”, just talk to us about it on site.
The nearest village Wervershoof (4 minutes by car) offers good shopping facilities. Only a few minutes walk away is the Ijsselmeer. There is a large bird sanctuary there and along the water in the direction of Medemblik are some shell and sand beaches.
Here the water is very shallow, so that even children can have fun swimming. The neighboring vacation park and the village of Wervershoof also have an indoor swimming pool.
Andijk and Medemblik
Distance: 3,9 KM
The picturesque harbor town of Medemblik
Andijk is a village and a former independent municipality in the region of West Friesland in the Dutch province of North Holland, located on the IJsselmeer. Since January 1, 2011 Andijk belongs to the municipality of Medemblik.
You can inquire about recreational opportunities and events at the local tourist association (VVV). Depending on the season, there may be a horse race in the middle of the main street, a truck show, a vintage car exhibition, the city center fair with fireworks over the ijsselmeer or a dragon boat race in the harbor basin.
In any case, it’s worth taking a short stroll through Medemblik’s small side streets with their lovingly designed front gardens, courtyards and historic gables.
The picturesque harbor piers with the flat-bottomed ships also invite you to take a walk.
Worth seeing:
The old castle “Radboud” from 1288 is located directly at the harbor entrance and has a medieval museum with castle hall, knights’ hall, tavern and castle cellar. www.kasteelradboud.nl
In the Koningin-Emma Park you will find a large playground, a miniature golf course, a petting zoo and an excursion restaurant.
A ride on the historic steam train:
Between the historic cities of Hoorn, Medemblik and Enkhuizen, along the former Zuiderzee, the small steam trains wind their way from village to village through the West Frisian lowlands. With the saloon steamer it goes then back over the Ijsselmeer. www.museumstoomtram.nl/de

The bakery museum “De oude bakkerij”.
Here the baker still bakes in the old, traditional way and works with traditional hand tools, which can be seen in the museum. The extensive museum collection consists of, among other things, a large collection of speculoos, icing, chocolate and cake molds. Also on display are bakers’ carts, baking baskets, traditional baking ingredients and kneading machines. And of course there is also a traditional bakery store.

Enkhuizen
Distance: 12,9 KM
Zuiderzeemuseum & Sprookjeswonderland
A trip to Enkhuizen is definitely recommended. Just like Medemblik, the old harbor town offers lots of nooks and crannies, old houses, alleys, canals and harbor romance.
The Zuiderzee Museum is divided into the outdoor and indoor museum. Inside you can see a great variety of tools and equipment of that time from fishing and agriculture.
Wervershoof
Distance: 2,4 KM
Wervershoof is located only a few kilometers south of Medemblik, on the IJsselmeer. The nearest train station is in Hoogkarspel, in Stede Broec, five kilometers to the south.
The village has some tourism and small business, but the main sources of income are horticulture and agriculture. In the Onderdijk district, an old blacksmith’s shop has been set up as a museum workshop. In Wervershoof itself stands a remarkable old windmill.
Recreation area “Vooroever
Distance: 4 KM
The recreational area “Vooroever” stretches from Medemblik via Onderdijk to Andijk.
Bathing bays with sandy and shell beaches invite you to sunbathe, relax and swim in the Ijsselmeer. Barbecue, dog meadows, wind or kite surfing and in the middle of it all the Steam Engine Museum (Stoommaschinemuseum) for young and old.
All areas offer parking, so they are also accessible by car.
Hoorn
Distance: 8,6 KM
Hoorn is a city and a former site of the Dutch East India Company in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is located on the IJsselmeer, a lake north of Amsterdam. In the city center from the 17th century with the main square Roode Steen there are numerous stores and cafes. In the harbor stands the Hoofdtoren, a tower from the 16th century. The city’s museums include the West Frisian Museum with paintings from the Golden Age.
Texel
Distance: 54,6 KM
Texel is a North Sea island in the Dutch province of North Holland, as well as the name of the municipality located on it. The island is the largest and westernmost of the West Frisian Islands.
It is a popular tourist destination; its varied landscape is home to a rich flora and fauna. It is best to find out for yourself what you can do on Texel.

North Sea
Distance: about 40 – 60 KM
In approx. 35 to 45 min. driving time you will reach the most beautiful sandy beaches of the North Sea. Whether Egmond aan Zee, Bergen aan Zee or Callantsoog, here is pure sunbathing.
Numerous beach restaurants invite you to eat and drink. For dog owners there are separate beach areas or the possibility to still enjoy a walk on the beach with the beloved four-legged friend at certain times of the evening.
Combine day trips there with a visit to Alkmaar with its tourist attraction of the famous cheese market (every Friday from 10 am to 12:30 pm).
At certain weekends, Kohlhorn (between the park and the North Sea) hosts atmospheric night markets. And the Marine Museum in Den Helder (at the northern tip on the final dike) is also worth a visit.
